Participation Rules for Be a Swamp Celebrity 
2015

Sign-up

  1. Signup will be the day of the competition.
  2. A signup sheet will be at the sound booth. 
  3. There will be no park admission charged for stage performers and one guest.  For example 4 performers in a single act can bring in 4 guests. 
  4. Signup will run from 11:30 am until 1:30 pm on a first come first serve basis until all slots are filled.
  5. If time allows additional acts over the allocated slots may be asked to perform.  

Performance Rules

  1. Be onsite at 12:45am and be prepared to play between 1:00 pm and 3:30 p
  2. Each act will be given 5 minutes to perform. Be prepared to perform 1 song, if time permits you will be given the option to play two songs. 
  3. Be ready (tuned up and standing by the side of the stage) when the act before you is performing.  
  4. If your act name is called and you are not ready or present, you will be moved to the end of the list.
  5. Acts will be limited to singing and instrumentals (no comedy, poetry, dancing, juggling, pet acts, etc)  
  6. No electric instruments, drum sets (single drum like a snare or hand held drums ok) or electronic accompaniment (CDs, Karaoke, etc.)  No plugging instruments into the PA, mic only. 
  7. 5 mics on stands will be provided.
  8. No profanity, offensive lyrics, nudity, drugs, alcohol.  Acts deemed inappropriate by the judges will be stopped and disqualified.  
Judging
  1. The 17 and under and 18 and older categories will be decided by the judges, based on originality, stage presence, musical ability and entertainment value.  
  2. All judges' decisions are final.  
Categories  

  1. Category 1: 17 and under 3 prizes
  2. Category 2: 18 and older 3 prizes 
Prizes
  1. Contestants must be present to win at the awarding at 4:00pm
  2. Category 1 and 2 get awarded three prizes
  • 1st prize $100
  • 2nd prize $50
  • 3rd prize  1 season pass to Cypress Gardens.
Schedule
  • 11:30 am - 01:30 pm in person signup(or until all slots are filled)
  • 11:30 pm The Charleston Hot Shots warm up the crowd
  • 1:00 pm Competition Begins
  • 3:30 pm Competition Ends
  • 3:45 pm - 4: 00 pm - Prizes Awarded
